Five coloured LED lights clearly indicate the water content of the brake fluid as a percentage. A green light means that the brake fluid is in good condition; a yellow light indicates a water content of 1–3 per cent and that a further check is recommended; a red light warns of a water content of over 3 per cent, which requires immediate replacement of the brake fluid. The system accurately measures changes in the boiling point caused by water and prevents a reduction in braking performance.

Simply press the power button and dip the metal probes into the brake fluid reservoir for 1 second, and you’ll get the test result straight away. Press the button again to switch the device off manually. Otherwise, the tester will switch off automatically after 15 seconds of inactivity to save battery power.

It is shaped like a pen and has a clip on the side. You can easily slip it into your jeans pocket or tool bag. It is powered by a 1.5 V AAA battery (battery not included), making it easy for you to get hold of one.
